Dipnaysupuan Japanese Tunnel

Dipnaysupuan Japanese Tunnel is a series of tunnel networks connected to each other that were built and servered as a shelter for the Japanese imperial forces during the World War II.

Because of its strategic location, the Ivatans were forced by Japanese soldiers to dug and build a secret tunnel in Tukon hills.  

There are five entrances to the tunnel. Three leading to Taytay and two leading to Tukon.

Inside this enclosure, tourists can find different spaces — 4 main rooms, an improvised water reservoir, a guard post, and a bunker. The entire tunnel is quite short compared to others, but as you walk its dark halls, you’ll get a glimpse of the Ivatan’s hardships and resilience in times of great danger.
